Engineers and researchers building the future of optical sensing
Curvace brings together engineers and researchers with deep expertise in telecommunications, optical sensing, embedded systems, and machine learning. Our founding team trained at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and Télécom Bretagne (now IMT Atlantique) — programs with strong traditions in photonics, signal processing, and fiber optic communications.
Scientific Advisor
Dr. Vinicius Nunes Henrique Silva
Ph.D. — Scientific Advisor • Associate Professor, Department of Telecommunications Engineering, Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)
Dr. Vinicius has served as Associate Professor in the Department of Telecommunications Engineering at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) since 2014, with extensive academic and industrial experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Telecommunications Engineering from Télécom Bretagne (France), and his career is distinguished by a unique combination of technological innovation, applied research, and teaching.
Author of over 70 publications in international journals and conferences, Dr. Vinicius holds deep expertise in photonic instrumentation, optical sensors, and optical communications. His research spans plastic optical fibers, free-space optical communication (FSO), and sensors applied to Agriculture 4.0 and brewing technology. Among his recent contributions are the development of optical sensors for environmental monitoring and innovative solutions for evapotranspiration measurement and energy efficiency.
Dr. Vinicius also leads innovation projects with industrial impact, including the design of low-cost optical devices, hybrid telecommunications systems, and intelligent monitoring of electrical infrastructure. Recognized with awards such as “Young Scientist of Our State” (FAPERJ), he combines a solid technical foundation with strategic vision, driving technology transfer and capacity building at national and international levels.
As a visiting researcher at renowned institutions including the Instituto de Telecomunicações (Portugal), Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal), and the Université de Technologie de Compiègne (France), Dr. Vinicius is fluent in English, Spanish, and French — enabling international collaborations on high-impact multidisciplinary projects. His work reflects a commitment to integrating academic research with technological innovation, focused on sustainable development and digital transformation across multiple sectors.
Academic Foundation
Our technical leadership studied at institutions recognized for excellence in telecommunications and photonics:
- Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) — One of Brazil's top telecommunications engineering programs, with research groups in optical communications, signal processing, and electromagnetic theory.
- Télécom Bretagne / IMT Atlantique — A leading French grande école in telecommunications and digital technology, with strong photonics and fiber optic research programs. Part of the Institut Mines-Télécom network.
