About us
Research roots. Security mission.
Curvace is an optical sensing and security technology company headquartered in the United States. We specialize in fiber optic perimeter intrusion detection, advanced video surveillance, and integrated security solutions for critical infrastructure.
Our Heritage
The curvace.org domain was originally home to the CURVACE project (CURVed Artificial Compound Eyes) — an EU FP7-funded research initiative that ran from 2009 to 2013. The project brought together leading European research institutions including EPFL, Fraunhofer Institute, and Université d'Aix-Marseille to develop bio-inspired artificial compound eyes for motion detection and spatial sensing.
While we are not affiliated with the original CURVACE research consortium, we are inspired by their work. The principles they demonstrated — wide-field optical sensing, adaptive photoreception, and neuromorphic signal processing — are foundational to the technologies we deploy today.
What We Do
We bring advanced sensing and surveillance technologies to organizations that need to protect critical assets, facilities, and perimeters. Our focus areas include:
- Fiber optic perimeter detection — Distributed sensing systems that monitor fences, walls, and buried perimeters with no gaps and no field electronics.
- Video surveillance systems — High-performance camera networks with analytics for threat detection, panoramic monitoring, and forensic recording.
- Multi-sensor integration — Unified security platforms that correlate inputs from fiber optic sensors, cameras, radar, and access control to reduce false alarms and accelerate response.
- Applied research — Investigating next-generation optical sensing technologies informed by bio-inspired design principles.
Grupo Aeon
Curvace operates as a subsidiary of Grupo Aeon, a security technology group with operations in the Americas. This relationship provides us with established supply chain partnerships, field engineering capabilities, and deep domain expertise in physical security.
Our Approach
We believe that the best security technology is grounded in real science. Too much of the security industry relies on marketing claims rather than engineering evidence. Our approach is different: we publish what we learn, we test what we sell, and we design systems based on physics rather than promises.
The bridge from academic optical sensing research to commercial security products isn't accidental — it's our strategy. By understanding the fundamental science of light propagation, signal processing, and sensor fusion, we design systems that work reliably in the real world, not just in controlled demonstrations.
