What's happening at Curvace
Curvace continues the legacy of the CurvACE compound-eye research project, now advancing optical sensing technology for security applications. This page will feature project updates, technical milestones, and industry developments as we grow.
2026 — Building on research foundations
Curvace is developing fiber optic perimeter intrusion detection and advanced video surveillance solutions, drawing on principles from bio-inspired optical sensing research. We are focused on bringing distributed sensing technology to critical infrastructure protection across the Americas.
From CurvACE to Curvace
The curvace.org domain was originally home to the CurvACE research project (2009–2013), an EU FP7-funded initiative that developed miniature curved artificial compound eyes. The project produced landmark research published in PNAS, Journal of the Royal Society Interface, and IEEE conferences, and received coverage from major international media outlets.
Today, Curvace operates as an optical sensing and security technology company, applying advanced sensing principles to real-world security challenges. While we are not affiliated with the original research consortium, the scientific foundations of compound-eye vision, wide-field optical detection, and distributed sensing inform our approach to building next-generation security systems.
